Hi Geektimes. We’ve got something seriously carried away by the topic of geek health and want to talk about it again. This time it was decided to touch upon the topic, though rather hackneyed, but surrounded by a bunch of myths and nonsense, the topic – coffee.
Indeed, only the lazy did not write about coffee. Literally every resource, one way or another related to the topic of work and freelancing, was noted here. It is not surprising – coffee has been the number 1 drink in offices all over the world for decades, and at home people prefer to start the day with a cup of aromatic drink in order to quickly shake off the remnants of sleep and to be aware of the surrounding reality. And despite the fact that it would seem that doctors and scientists only do what they study coffee and its effect on the human body, a lot of fables are still being told about it. But what is there – scientists on many nuances of the effect of coffee themselves cannot come to a compromise, since many studies directly refute each other. And new ones are constantly being held …
So, let’s talk about coffee in the context of only really confirmed (or, at least, confirmed by most researchers) facts – what happens from it, what does not happen, how to drink it correctly and whether to drink it at all.
How it works
Traditionally, a little materiel for seeding – let’s see exactly how caffeine “works” in our body after getting there by pouring a cup of coffee into the mouth 🙂 The
key role in the work of caffeine is played by its base – xanthine, a simple compound of the purine series. When the drunk coffee enters the small intestine and begins to be absorbed, xanthine interacts with the A1 and A2 adenosine receptors located on the cell membranes of smooth muscles, glandular cells, central nervous system and other organs. This is where the most interesting thing begins: the A2 receptor increases the content of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cyclic adenosine monophosphate), and the A1 receptor, which reduces its level, is blocked and stops working. Thus, only A2 remains in service, which triggers a whole range of reactions, receiving the coveted caffeine:
- relaxation of vascular smooth muscles;
- improvement of blood flow through the coronary, cerebral and renal vessels;
- relaxes the smooth muscles of the bronchi, intestines and ureters;
- increased blood fluidity due to a decrease in platelet aggregation;
- and, of course, the most important thing is to eliminate the inhibitory effect of adenosine on the central nervous system.
From this moment, adenosine ceases to depress the central nervous system, the accelerated blood provides the brain with a good flow of oxygen – these effects of caffeine are the key to the fact that drowsiness flies from us, the thought process accelerates and our mood improves, that is, everything is happening for which we drink coffee. Well, apart from the taste, of course. 🙂
Coffee horrors
Of course, although coffee is an integral part of the life of a modern person, it is a drink that carries certain risks and burdens on the body. And which can really hurt.
Unambiguous contraindications for drinking coffee – hypertension, kidney disease, duodenal ulcer or stomach ulcer. Well, just in case, know that it is also better not to treat schizophrenics with coffee – it can contribute to productive symptoms. Prove later that you are not a hallucination.
But even with the health of a bull, you can overdo it and get an overdose of caffeine. It is theoretically possible to drink coffee to death, in practice it is unrealistic (an adult will have to drink something like 70 cups of espresso in an hour). But catching an overdose is as easy as shelling pears. Symptoms are headache, stomach pains, agitation (inability to sit still), psychomotor agitation and confusion to a heap. Well, sleep will be disrupted next night, yes. It releases relatively quickly (more water and it is better to go out into the fresh air), but still, you must admit, there is little pleasant.
Well, in general, regular coffee consumption increases the risk of coronary artery disease, irritates the gastrointestinal tract and creates favorable conditions for the development of its various diseases, and also leaches calcium from the bones. By the way, coffee addiction is not a myth, ask any doctor.
Horrified? Calm, only calm. In fact, coffee is not all that bad. Why, everything is fine with coffee. You just need to drink it correctly.
Coffeemanim right
So how should you drink coffee so that the harmful effects do not set the weather, and the healthy ones bring the maximum benefit?
The most controversial topic, about which many copies always break, is how many cups a day can you drink without showing negative effects? Here, age matters, and chronic diseases, and BMI (body mass index). But the general recommendation will be the following for all adults – no more than 3-4 cups throughout the day, with breaks of at least 2 hours . Based on an average caffeine content of 220 mg per cup of espresso, this is no more than 1 gram of caffeine per day .
Coffee on an empty stomach is definitely harmful, so if you have a habit of starting the day with just one cup of espresso without even a sandwich, then it’s better to say goodbye to it somehow. If breakfast after getting up early is basically not given to you (he himself is familiar with this problem firsthand) – be patient, wait until the stomach warms up and the appetite wakes up. And after a snack, you can already drink coffee.
There are many recipes for spiced coffee. Here, again, just be moderate – no need to sprinkle cinnamon and coriander with ladles. In general, it is best to prepare spiced coffee according to recipes, and not from fashion magazines, but from cookbooks and cookbooks. And yes, it is better with such coffee to complete a hearty meal, since on an empty stomach, spices in combat alliance with caffeine can greatly annoy your digestive tract.
As for alcohol, it is not recommended to mix it with coffee (both in the stomach and even more directly in the cup). Caffeine and alcohol have opposite effects on the body and the central nervous system and at the same time not only do not compensate, but on the contrary, they begin to pull the blanket. This also applies to special liqueurs and coffee balms. Do not torment yourself with refusal from them, if you like them, just use less coffee with balms, and if you really want to – do not pour half a cup. 🙂
You will drink coffee carefully, competently and without overdoing it – you will not only walk vigorous and with a clear mind, but also provide yourself with a lot of useful buns: prevention of senile dementia, reducing the risk of liver cirrhosis and diabetes, improving metabolism and burning fat by the body, and much other. But here another question arises: how to properly prepare an ancient and aromatic drink so that it is beneficial? Of course, soluble powders and granules can be safely forgotten.
One of the inexpensive (and at the same time one of the most popular) is this Bosh capsule coffee machine . It is easy to maintain, does not require any cleaning, washing, boring manual operations and all that. I put the capsule in the mood, put the mug, pressed the button.
